For those of you who aren't in the loop, the term "wardriving" means to go out with a laptop looking for unsecured wireless networks and using them to gain access to the Internet. Generally speaking I do not engage in this behaviour, but today I am staying in a hotel with my wife and in-laws and thought I'd give it a shot. I logged unto my laptop and discovered that there are four wireless networks available, and only one of those is secured. So I connected to the strongest signal (which happened to also be unsecured) and voila! I'm on the web. Now I realize that this isn't wardriving in the strictest sense of the term because it's entirely possible the hotel offers complimentary wireless for its guests, but I didn't see any signs saying as much. So, I don't know... I just know that I wasn't expecting to get online at all this morning and here I am blogging while I wait for people to wake up.
Of course, for me part of the whole waking up experince is my morning cup of coffee. I attempted to make a cup this morning, but apparently didn't push the carafe all the way in and it overflowed. The good news is that the coffee maker was sitting on a tray so most of the spillage got caught by that, but in the course of trying to move the tray to the sink to clean it out I ended up spilling a bunch on the counter.
Aside from that it's shaping up to be a beautiful day. I can see the ocean from here amd the sky, while grey, is looking as though the sun might make an appearance. I'm here until wednesday, and it looks like it should shape up to be a fabulous time.
